Casa Esperanza Internship in Houston, Texas
Hands of Hope is Casa de Esperanza’s internship program which recruits recent graduates througout the United States. Interns must have a desire to helped abused, neglected, and HIV postive children through the agency.
JusticeCorps: Minimum-Time Members
Members are typically students who assist part-time at a specified Los Angeles Superior Courthouse. Members primarily focus on assisting individuals one-on-one with their family law court forms. There are two minimum-time member positions: summer and academic year

Alianza de los Amigos Martin Ortiz Fellowship
Supports student participation in an internship or research activities related to public service in the economic development and the general improvement of the human condition.

Eligibility: First-Year, Sophomore, Junior
Benefits: $4,000 stipend, $500 scholarship, and a $500 award to their faculty mentor.

Barbara Ondrasik ’57 and David Groce Fellowship
Supports a research or creative project with a Whittier faculty mentor in any field (humanities, social science, STEM).

Benefits: $5,000 for one summer, $500 supplies/travel, and $1,500 scholarship

Brethren Community Foundation Fellowship
Supports work in East Africa on community projects that provide sustainable solutions.

Benefits: Paid travel and accommodations to East Africa in JanTerm to engage in community-based efforts.

Jan Cauffman Fellowship
Supports students working with a Whittier faculty mentor in developing and implementing new or redesigned courses with digital pedagogies and or technologies.

Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior; 3.0 GPA or higher
Benefits: Students receive a $4,000 award to be used as a stipend, tuition scholarship, or a combination of both.

Leadership Alliance Summer Research - Early Identification Program
Supports students interested in pursuing PhD or MD-PhD graduate study to participate in a summer research experience with a faculty mentor at a research institution.

Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior; 3.0 GPA or higher; US Citizen, resident, or green card holder
Benefits: Paid 8-10 week summer program. Housing and travel are also covered.

Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship
Supports students committed to reducing racial disparities in higher education, to conduct research with a Whittier faculty mentor. Students must also demonstrate a strong desire to pursue a PhD degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences.
Deadlines: November and March
Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior; 3.0 GPA or higher
Benefits: $15,000 stipend over two years, $600 stipend to cover GRE preparation, $400 for research supplies, and $10,000 for loan repayment upon matriculation into a Ph.D. program.

Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation
Supports student activities focused on environmental challenges or issues impacting the Native American Indian Community.

Point Foundation Scholarship
Supports LGBTQ students who demonstrate a strong commitment to the LGBTQ community in pursing their academic goals.

Eligibility: Identify as part of the LGBTQ community; 3.0 GPA or higher; track record of leadership and community involvement in supporting the LGBTQ community
Benefits: A scholarship of approximately $14,000 to cover tuition, fees, room and board.

Truman Scholarship
Supports students who are dedicated to pursue graduate or professional school in preparation for a career in public service within government or a non-profit organization.

Off Campus Fellowships
JusticeCorps, Law Fellowship
Fellows are recent graduates who work full-time at a specified Los Angeles Superior Courthouse. On a typical day fellows lead workshops for the public that either involve informing them about starting a case or assisting them with their court forms. Fellows become knowledgeable with family and civil law forms, such as divorces, child and custody, evictions, and many more.
